Why Are People Suspicious of Muslims?

I loved the comment below by Robert Spencer. He said basically, "You've got to be kidding me if you think people are angry at Muslims and suspicious of them because people like us are critical of Islamic doctrine. Not to mention the arrogance and dishonesty of "peaceful" Islamic spokesmen like the Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, his unctuous and glaringly insincere wife Daisy Khan, Honest Ibe Hooper, and Zead Ramadan himself? And so many others."

Where Does All This Anti-Muslim Bigotry Come From?

In an article by Robert Spencer about Senator Richard Durbin, who expressed his desire to hold hearings on the "rise in anti-Muslim bigotry," Spencer wrote:

"If Durbin really wants to know the cause of what “anti-Muslim bigotry” may actually exist, he need look no farther than Khalid Aldawsari, the would-be jihad mass murderer in Lubbock, Texas; Muhammad Hussain, the would-be jihad bomber in Baltimore; Mohamed Mohamud, the would-be jihad bomber in Portland; Nidal Hasan, the Fort Hood jihad mass-murderer; Faisal Shahzad, the would-be Times Square jihad mass-murderer; Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad, the Arkansas military recruiting station jihad murderer; Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, the would-be Christmas airplane jihad bomber; and so many other jihad murderers and would-be murderers.

"If anyone in the United States today is suspicious of Muslims in general, it is because of those jihadis and others like them..."

A Question to Ponder

"Today is 17th Ramadan - a day which marks the anniversary of the Battle of Badr," I just read on the Muslim Public Affairs Committee website. And this holds special meaning for Muslims. Muhammad was persecuted by his enemies. Poor ol' Mo. Of course it had nothing to do with his constant abuse of his enemies and his raiding their caravans and killing their people. He was unfairly persecuted and of course needed to "defend Islam" (and keep the booty).

The article asks, "What lessons can Muslims draw from this event?" Because, it says, poor ol' Muslims are persecuted and abused by their enemies today, so history is mysteriously repeating itself. Of course it has nothing to do with their constant bombing of non-Muslims everywhere, or their constant push to squeeze more concessions from the non-Muslims, or their overt purpose of subverting democratic governments. They are unfairly persecuted and must, of course, "defend Islam."

Such a meaningful and important lesson to ponder while you're fasting, eh?
